Welcome to Lisa and Ray Bachiller's Site!
Who? ... What? ... Where? ... When? ... How?
We are a couple living in Utah. Both of us retired here after careers in the US Marine Corps.
Lisa graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1981 and was commissioned a 2d Lieutenant in the Marines where she was assigned as an Aviation Maintenance Officer. In her 20 year career she held a variety of positions as she rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She has worked in the maintenance arena in all areas of aircraft types: fixed wing, helos, and even c 13o transport aircraft. Also she served two successful tours at Headquarters Marine Corps where she met Ray. Her son Jon E. Paris Jr is a Navy Lieutenant and is currently assigned to the Lisa's Alma Mater, the Naval Academy where he is a Navigation instructor. Lisa was selected to command an Aircraft Maintenance squadron and retired from that position in 2001 joining Ray in Utah.
Ray is a University of South Carolina class of '70 Gamecock. He joined the Marine Corps through the NROTC program. Like Lisa he served in many billets on active duty and visited many locations. He was initially assigned as an Air Support control Officer but saw little duty in that field as he only had 17 actual months serving in that capacity. He has been assigned to some of the most unique positions available. From duty with the Fleet to the White House to recruiting on the streets of Baltimore and Washington DC, he has seen a good bit of the nation. Interestingly he has had more than his fair share of assignments"inside the beltway" of Washington, DC which is also his hometown. Recruiting duty, a Pentagon tour and three, (yes three!) trips to the hallowed halls of Headquarters Marine Corps. He has had three command billets ... a squadron, a battalion, and an Air Control Group. His final assignment came as he was selected as the Deputy Commander for the Joint Task Force Olympics 2002 in Salt Lake City. Now you can see how he and Lisa ended up in Utah.
There is more on Lisa and Ray but that will be written at a later date.
This website was established to provide information on the activities of the Bachillers. Retirement has been anything but retired ... both have pursued various activities together (like a a year tour in Baghdad in 2005) and separately. The primary purpose of this site is to put in one location information that friends and acquaintances can look up to keep current. AS you will see in some cases this site will serve as the central site for organizations that Lisa and Ray belong to (like the Marine Corps League).
So browse about and click to your heart's content. If you want to email Lisa or Ray just click bachiller1@aol.com or call them at 801-420-USMC (Lisa) or 801-430-USMC (Ray) ... USMC translates to 8762 on the phone pad.
We are just learning about websites and this site was started on 20 October 2010 when we went to the internet to find instructions on "how to do it" ... guess what? It was not that hard! BUT this is a work in progress so please be patient ... this is discovery learning at its finest!
Again thanks for looking in on us and check in occasionally to stay in touch!
Semper Fidelis,

and the pups!
